Lisa Galizia grew up in Piedmont North Carolina in a family of avid home gardeners, where gardening was part of everyday life.

She earned a journalism degree with a concentration in photojournalism from UNC-Chapel Hill and a master’s degree in adult education from East Carolina University. Her career included work as a news reporter and photographer and later as a communications director for an electric cooperative.

After retiring, she dug into the Extension Master Gardener℠ program, volunteering in several demonstration gardens and putting her communications skills to work managing her group’s social media and other communications.
