Join Becky Savage from the NC Wildlife Resources Commission to learn about our native bat species. We will discuss bat biology, ecology, behavior, conservation challenges and show you how to create a habitat to support these amazing winged mammals!

About Our Speaker:
Since receiving a BS in Ecology from the University of Georgia, Becky Savage has accumulated a broad range of experience as an environmental educator. She has participated in sea turtle and wood stork research and has worked as an ecology educator for all ages across such varied topics as coastal ecology, herpetology, botany, and birding. She served as the Audubon Education Manager in Mississippi in the aftermath of the BP oil spill, reevaluating the damage to bird species and helping establish a baseline of the current population. Becky is currently an Engagement Program Specialist with the NC Wildlife Resources Commission, which serves 12 coastal NC counties. In that role, she teaches wildlife skills; facilitates conservation management techniques such as hunter education, boater safety, and more; along with training formal and nonformal educators with the Project WILD suite curriculum.
In her off time, she enjoys taking care of her zoo at home, which includes a toddler and soon to be newborn, dogs, cats, snakes, a bearded dragon and sulcata tortoise. Life is good! She thoroughly enjoys kayaking, birding, gardening for wildlife and cycling.
