About this Presentation:

Learn about the various chemical contaminants that may be in your garden soil - where they come from, how they might impact your health, and how to help keep you and your family/fellow gardeners safe. This presentation will cover common sources and exposure pathways of these contaminants, as well as address why the presence of contaminants is an environmental justice concern. You can expect tips and tricks on creating and maintaining a safer garden environment, a thoughtful discussion on the legacy and impacts of environmental justice, and lots of opportunities to test and grow your knowledge.

The presentation will be recorded for 

members to view later in our Video Library.


About Our Speaker: 

Presenter Chiara Klein is the Program Coordinator for the Community Engagement Core of the Duke University Superfund Research Center where her role is to help facilitate targeted outreach to communities impacted by environmental contaminants. She is a graduate of Duke University's Masters of Environmental Management program, where she specialized in Ecosystem Science and Conservation and Community-Based Environmental Management.
