About this Presentation:

This presentation will cover all aspects of blueberry production -- native and cultivated species, soil and pH requirements, how to get started, how to choose the right cultivar(s) for your area, site selection and preparation, planting tips, irrigation and fertilizer, pollination and fruit set, harvesting and handling of fruit, pruning, and propagation.

Participants will learn:

(i) the basics of establishing a blueberry planting,

(ii) types of blueberries grown in NC, and

(iii) how to care for established blueberry plants.

    The presentation will be recorded for 

    members to view later in our Video Library.


    About Our Speaker: 

    Bill Cline is a Researcher and Extension Specialist in the department of Entomology and Plant Pathology at NC State University. His office is located at the NCSU Horticultural Crops Research Station in Castle Hayne. He has 40 years of experience in management and control of diseases of small fruit crops. Bill also serves as the state Extension Horticulturist for blueberries, advising commercial growers, county agents and home gardeners. His publications include book chapters, journal/technical articles, extension bulletins and online content. Bill edits the small fruit sections of the NC Agricultural Chemicals Manual and the Integrated Management Guides at smallfruits.org.
