About this Presentation:

This presentation will walk you through the elements needed to create beautiful gardens designed to welcome beneficial pollinators across the South. This material combines up-to-date scientific information with artful design strategies to teach gardeners of all levels to plan, plant, and maintain successful pollinator gardens at home and in shared community sites.

The presentation will be recorded for 

members to view later in our Video Library.


About Our Speaker: 

Dr. Seth Carley is an Associate Professor in the Department of Horticultural Science at NC State, as well as the Director for the Center for Integrated Pest Management. As an Urban Ecosystem Ecologist, her area of expertise is sustainable managed urban landscapes with a focus on pollinator health. Recent research programs include pollen quality in commonly planted wild-flowers, pollinator ecology along roadsides in NC, and native plant conservation and pollinator habitat establishment at historic Pinehurst No. 2 and No. 4 Golf Courses. In addition to grant writing, and research, Dr. Seth Carley frequently lectures at Beekeeper Association meetings, Master Gardener meetings, and other events where community members are interested in learning more about pollinator habitat conservation and protection. She is currently hard at work on her second book focused on sustainable lawns (for the South).
