Non-Members - $10 (non-refundable) - or you can join the state Association ($20/year membership fee), attend ALL of our presentations for free, AND have access to the recordings to view later
About:
If you are new to composting, come learn about how to start your own backyard bin. If you're a seasoned veteran of composting, come and learn a few new ways of making your compost more effective. Karen DiDonato, Wake County Extension Master GardenerSM Volunteer, will share best practices for composting from her 25 years of experience.
The presentation will be recorded for state Association
members to view later in our Video Library.
About our Speaker:
Karen DiDonato has been a gardening enthusiast her entire life. She was born and raised in the Philadelphia suburbs but spent 20 years in the San Francisco Bay Area before relocating to the Triangle just before COVID. In California Karen and her family owned a 65 acre farm in Sonoma County where she established and maintained over 200 fruit trees and several compost bins to support production.
Karen has a Master's Degree in Nursing from The University of Virginia nad after 25 years in the Biotech Industry, recently cut back her hours to become a Master Gardener Volunteer. Her particular areas of interest include hobby orchards, composting, vermicomposting, native bee cultivation, and vegetable gardening. Karen is a member of the US Composting Council, the North Carolina Composting Council, and the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality.
