Speaker: Michael Fine
Topic: Growing Vegetables in Central North Carolina
Michael will focus on site selection, soil preparation, planting dates, and proper care for the most common vegetable families. He will break down how to nurture an environment conducive to plant health.
Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions during the presentation.
The presentation will be recorded for NCEMGVA members to view later.
About our Speaker:
Michael is a partner and the head of operations at Seven Sisters Farm in Denton NC. His farm cultivates seasonal vegetables from April - late December. He also grow blackberries, blueberries, and asparagus. Seven Sisters also operates a nursery and offers greenhouse plants for other gardeners.
Michael’s educational background is in Natural Resources. He obtained a BA in Conservation Ecology at NC State University in 2010. He served as Natural Resource and Small Extension Agent (Rowan County) with NC A&T University from 2018-2020.
Michael’s passion is helping folks produce wholesome food and in his spare time he offers consulting services and on-farm workshops to anyone interested in small-scale farming.
